REVIEW
This is a very different book for me to review but since Leanne Lovegrove’s name is on it, I knew I had to read it. And did I enjoy it? Yes ! Leanne’s excellent writing skills are still here in her new genre. The vivid descriptions of picturesque Spain, intriguing plot and engaging characters all wonderfully present— kept me interested from the first page to the last. I was keen to see where these characters’ lives would go. And it was also fun to learn about a jewellery design business and the creative input it takes to make it all happen. Besides the expected romance elements, this novel contains a mystery. With missing jewels and a number of family secrets to explore—there is never a dull moment.
This is the first book of the European Tycoon series that allows the reader to go on a journey to exotic places and get a sneak peek of the millionaire world and how it thrives or dives. It is escapism in the truest sense, but it is exciting for readers who love being whisked away to experience a luxurious lifestyle through the creative expression of story-telling— where belief can be suspended and the imagination runs wild! To be able to explore top romantic settings and rub shoulders with the cream of crop of the rich and famous, through a novel, certainly has its thrills and fascination.
Australian born Silvia Cook is an independent and determined woman with family connections in Spain. She has an eye and artistic talent for jewellery design which she may have inherited from her beloved grandmother. They had a strong and loving relationship and now Silvia must make a journey to Tossa de Mar on Spain’s stunning coastline to scatter her grandmother’s ashes. This also gives Silvia a chance to explore her family’s roots and learn more about this woman she dearly loved. But some of what she discovers, surprises her, as it may have caused her grandmother to leave her homeland for Australia to start a new life. These revelations begin to affect Silvia’s own life and she starts to question the direction she originally planned to go. Maybe it is not the best option for her? Thankfully, her Spanish encounters awaken and coax her into new directions. Giving her courage to follow once-repressed aspirations.
Arlo Blanco, CEO of Blanco Fine Jewels, is an interesting character. The man is first seen as a womaniser, surrounded in wealth and all that it affords. Silvia catches his eye, if not her jewellery initially. But then he is intrigued by her personality and talent. His character arc is a welcomed one. He is full of surprises and not the person we might expect. He constantly tries to prove he is not like his father and grandfather who were less than faithful to their women/wives. There is no doubt that meeting Silvia changes him or at least brings out the best in him. And she is affected by him as well. Not only does their building attraction draw them closer together but also their love of crafting fine jewellery. The direction they head has its bumps and plot twists but working together reveals their deepest connections and dreams.
This is a fun and festive first outing of the series and I am interested in seeing more of what is to come. It is true we need stories to offer wonderful escape breaks. We all need a little detour from the hassles of life to indulge in some armchair travelling! And Ms. Lovegrove has succeeded in these areas with this current release. In fact, she always does in whatever genre she chooses to write. The Spanish Jeweller is full of charm, passion and joy. A delightful ride into a brave new world! 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
