The French Perfumer is another fun and informative story from Leanne Lovegrove. This European Tycoons series focuses on millionaires and various businesses that are creative in origin such as jewellery making and this time perfumes! I must say, I learned a lot about the art of perfume making. This story is set in the legendary perfume rich location in France. Grasse is one, if not the top special place for developing such heavenly aromas. Leanne whisks us away to this beautiful location with her vivid yet dreamy descriptions. I felt I was there in this stunning landscape along side of Australian Kitty Landers.
Kitty has boarded a plane wearing her wedding dress. But she has been cast off by her fiancé. We later learn why which provides quite a surprise for her and us! She is a romantic at heart but her latest disappointment in both love and profession (working in the perfume business) sees her off to get a fresh start and pursue her dream of making perfumes. She is initially met with some disappointment when the elite class she has chosen has no room for her. She discovers they are booked up for the next two years! On some cheeky advice, she ends up in another class to study which some consider to be less professional and more for the hobbyist. But despite the snickers of her acquaintances, she is determined to make a go of it and learn what she came to France to achieve.
This is somewhat of a Cinderella story as she manages to accomplish more than anyone would dream of in her position. While showing her actual talent in identifying perfume compositions, she has attracted the attention of two handsome millionaires in the perfume business. This is when her transformation begins. She even gets to dress up for a ball in millionaire priced clothes (a gift) to attend. Yes, this story is the stuff of dreams and what it would be like for an ordinary girl to step into that ritzy world. Will money change her? Will she maintain all the wonderful elements of an honest, kind, imaginative heart? Without giving away the story I can say, it is those very facets of her personality that cause the world around her to change (instead of the other way around). She affects at least one of those top men in a big way (no hints as you will need to read the story and see who wins her hand in the end!).
I loved this fairy-tale like story that flowed along like a dream. Even with the bumps that happen on the road for our heroine (which we would expect), it ends on a very high note, sweetly scented and full of passion and promise. Hats off to Leanne for another delightful journey to the world of the rich and famous. The character development is perfect, the story length just right, and the plot has enough turns and surprises. This story will make your skin tingle, your nose awaken to delightful scents and your heart bursting with love and joy. 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
